Sandia Mountains

Writer's picture: Michael FunkMichael Funk

So we spent 3 days riding trails around Albuquerque and Mark did a road ride up to the top of Sandia Crest at 13,300 ft. I rode the foothills on the other side of the mountain on that day. A lot of cactus close to the trail made it definitely challenging. The second ride was 23 miles with 3400 ft of climbing to the top of this mountain. The final day we rode a loop at a lower elevation and still ended up with 22 miles after a couple of wrong turns leading to bonus miles.

This is a view of the top where the tram comes up from town. We rode 10 miles up the mountain on the trail to the top.

The views at the top were worth the effort.

Mark coming up the mountain, this is after about 3 hours of climbing.

The downhill trails were awesome. Tomorrow we are off to Sedona.
